This week I attended the inaugural fashion presentations by the newly formed Los Angeles Fashion Council, where local designers Odylyne and Jen Awad showcased their spring 2013 collections.
As a fan of Odylyne designer Stephanie Lampkin's ethereal, goddess-like gowns, I thoroughly enjoyed her collection, which showcased slightly sheer maxi dresses in soft shades of ivory, asymmetrical hemlines, soft lace, bold graphic prints, and sleek cutouts. The angelic atmosphere, complete with a ring of candles surrounding the models' feet, made for a relaxing and enjoyable show in which we were able to appreciate the garments up close. Odylyne continues to fuse modern glamour with soft romance in an ultra wearable way that transcends seasonal trends. I'll be daydreaming about the romantic dress below for a long time. The floral fabric underlay and flowy fabric just begs to be taken for a barefoot sunset stroll in a deserted park.
The revealing black lace dress pictured just below by Jen Awad was one of my favorites. Her spring 2013 collection blended retro A-line shapes from the 1950s with modern details such as fringe trim, lace, bows with cutouts, and tulle. The color scheme of pink, white and black figured prominently, and styles ranged from floor-length gowns to playfully short and skin-baring silhouettes. Just as I was looking forward to fall, these collections have me already looking forward to spring 2013.
