Recent shopping trips have allowed me to document some of my favorite things for fall: tough ankle boots, whimsical prints, colorful accessories, and breezy blouses. Today I had a chance to visit the XCVI pop-up shop at The Oaks, where I spotted a few fringed pieces, sheer tops, and colorful handbags that would be right at home in my closet. As this was my first time browsing the wares of the Los Angeles-based brand, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of merchandise, which includes candles, handbags, yoga apparel, jewelry, fringe dresses, and jersey knits that you could lounge the day away in. (The best part is that most items are priced under $150 and are designed locally by Los Angeles designers.) On weekends, the store will play host to special events that include: massages, cupcake tastings, and skin care demos. If you're in the area, the shop will be open until September 30, and then it moves on to the space previously occupied by Louis Vuitton at La Cumbre in Santa Barbara.
Can you guess which piece from XCVI is my favorite? If you guessed the white fringe dress (below on the left), you'd be right! I'd give it some edge by pairing it with studded boots, a thin braided leather belt, and perhaps a denim vest.
Below are a few notable things that I've somehow managed to resist from H&M, Urban Outfitters, Zara, and Macy's. It's a complete coincidence that each of these items has one thing in common - the color black. Maybe it marks a new color obsession on the horizon for me.
